That’s one of the reasons “Rizzoli & Isles” has become one of the best cop shows on TV.

It works as light summer drama, with lots of great banter between the women, and it works as cop drama, since it has put both of them in very dangerous situations at regular intervals

Bruce McGill: Obviously a great role for me, because it’s ongoing. Usually I’m a single-shot guy. Feature films are beginning, middle, and end, and “goodbye, thank you for working with us, you’re done.” [Laughs.] So this is very interesting. It evolves. 

The first thing I really enjoyed about it was Korsak’s relationship with the dog. That, and the fact that I’ve known Angie Harmon for a long time, and I enjoy her, so it’s great to work with her.

Does Jane feel guilty about shooting Maura’s father, or does she believe she was just doing her job?
Of course, she feels guilty. She shot her best friend’s father. But on the other hand, let’s not forget, Paddy is the king of the mob, he shot a federal agent and he had a gun pointed at Jane. What would you do if you were in Jane’s situation and a trained homicide detective? Would you just stand there and wait to see if he is going to pull the trigger, or would you just go ahead and act, especially after he shot one of your colleagues, who you happen to be sleeping with.

"You guys will make up."

That's what Korsak (Bruce McGill) tells Jane (Angie Harmon) on the Season 3 premiere of Rizzoli & Isles (Tuesday, 9/8c, TNT) about her fractured friendship with Maura (Sasha Alexander).

He may be right, but it looks to be a long road back for the former BFFs. Maura still feels betrayed that Jane shot her estranged father, crime boss Paddy Doyle (John Doman), in the Season 2 finale after having promised that she wasn't going to do anything. That surely can't be something that is forgiven in one episode, right?

Sasha Alexander becomes more than just Angie Harmon’s partner in ‘Rizzoli & Isles’

The title is directly pulled from TheDailyNews.com (whom we now give props to for the subtext shout out LoL):

“It’s a huge ride for Maura this season,” says Alexander. “The whole mystery of her father and his past is changing her. She’s always lived in this world where she’s in control of everything, and now it’s another world she’s uncomfortable in.”

Maura’s also mad at Jane.

“She’s in total shock as the season starts,” says Alexander. “She’s very angry at Jane. It’s going to take a while for them to find their way back.”

Angie and Sasha talk to USA Today about Season 3:

"The further we move into the series, the more it reflects the fact that we do represent women in a way that's unique," Alexander says. "So I'm proud to be part of a show that has smart women who are professionals, who are independent, who are good people, who are supportive of and respect each other.
...
Says Harmon: "I've said from the first season that Maura and Jane together make a really extraordinary woman. Separately they're amazing, together they are extraordinary."

Sasha & Angie Talk Season 3

The two took time to talk to TVLine.com

“We start Season 3 maybe 20 minutes later, so the anger is still fresh, the resentment of [what Jane did],” Sasha Alexander tells TVLine of tonight’s premiere (airing at 9/8c). “For both Jane and Maura it’s very unclear – like, What just happened?”

So, things are a little complicated between the ladies? “I would say a lot,” Angie Harmon corrects us with a laugh. “But if you’ve ever had a fight with someone that you love or care about, this is the show for you. It’s very high stakes that these two are fighting for.”

There's a fun, light interview with Sasha over at the Huffington Post:

Fans seem to really want you all to do a musical episode, a la "Grey's Anatomy" or "Buffy." Would you consider it?Oh my gosh, I would so love to! I was a dancer, Angie's a great dancer ... there's no reason that the two of us shouldn't be dancing away. I'd love it. I don't have a really good voice, though -- Angie does. So I could back-up dance, somebody from "Glee" could maybe sing for me, and I'll be doing the Roger Rabbit.

[Laughs.] It's the same as having a butt double -- you'll have a singing voice double. And you know what? I'm totally good with a butt double. That and boob doubles are fantastic. [Laughs.]

Entertainment Weekly Talks Season 3

They’ll need something equally as dramatic to bring the two back together, and in episode 2, the duo gets trapped in a car with water rising around them. “Maura is very, very hurt, so Jane has to do surgery on her in order to help her not lose her leg. It’s pretty intense,” Alexander says. “They really earn their way back.”
