National Coming Out Day

October 11th is National Coming Out Day

For those looking for a text book definition, wikipedia has a great one:

[It] is an internationally observed civil awareness day for coming out and discussion about people that are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (LGBT), etc. It is observed by members of the LGBT communities and their supporters (often referred to as "allies")

Why October 11th? It marks the anniversary of the first LGBT March on Washington, which happened on this day in 1987.

It seems like such a simple thing to write down. Today is a day to prompt people to talk about everything that many of us who frequent this blog deal with and see everyday of our lives. It's a time to step forward and speak your mind, and it's a time to be supportive of those who are still trying to find their voice. Though we shouldn't just wait for today to speak up and be heard, sometimes you need a springboard.

We here at RGB stand firm in our support of the LGBT community, and we want you to know that we will never waver in our support.
