Q: So it's not tough giving up control?
A: I feel pretty good about it. I'm still in control of my universe, and my universe hasn't changed any. (Laughs) It's still dark and grim! But once the characters are out in the universe, people have their own interpretations of them. On TV, they're interpreting them. Then the people who write fan fiction do it a whole other way. Then there's a whole subculture of lesbian fan fiction, which is something I never envisioned. It's all different ways of interpreting the same tune.
